Strategic Planning
← BackOverview:
Great organisations don’t just react — they plan. CTO’s Strategic Planning course teaches leaders how to develop a clear, actionable plan that aligns teams, allocates resources, and guides your organisation toward its long-term vision. This 1-day workshop is customised for your business and delivered onsite or online across Australia.
Strategic planning is the process in which your organisation’s leaders determine their vision for the future, as well as identify their goals and objectives for the organisation.
A Strategic Plan looks much further ahead than a Business Plan, and helps organisations make the sort of decisions that affect the entire destiny of the organision for years into the future. These decisions are not about small adjustments, but address the really big, important issues facing your orgnisation. These are the decisions you must get right in order to thrive.
The Strategic Plan is used to:
- set priorities to achieve your organisation goals
- establish agreement around intended outcomes and results
- ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward the common goals
- make decisions on allocating resources to pursue the strategy
Strategic planning can be extended to include the control and quality assurance procedures for managing the strategy.
A well written Strategic Plan can mean the difference between your organisation meeting its goals, or falling short.

This Strategic Planning course will improve your planning skills and teach you how to implement your Strategic Plan into your organisation by:
- Determining your organisation’s Vision for the future
- Writing or updating your Vision Statement and your Mission Statement
- Setting Goals for your organisation
- Determining Actions to achieve these goals
- Allocating or purchasing Resources to execute the actions

Learning Outcomes:
Many leaders confuse planning with strategizing. They create detailed plans that become obsolete when circumstances
change. True strategic thinking requires stepping back from day-to-day operations to identify where your organisation needs to go and how to get there. Without this capability, leaders react to events rather than shaping their future, leaving success to chance rather than intention.
You will learn to
✓ Distinguish between strategic thinking and operational planning
✓ Analyze your competitive environment and identify strategic opportunities
✓ Develop clear, compelling strategic direction for your team or organisation
✓ Translate strategy into actionable plans that drive results
✓ Engage stakeholders in strategic planning processes
✓ Monitor progress and adapt strategy as circumstances evolve
✓ Lead strategic conversations that move beyond tactical firefighting
